Where are telescopes placed in an observatory?🤔

Observatories are special places where astronomers study, space.

Most observatories are built on mountain tops far from city lights.

They are built at high altitudes so that smoke, light and pollution may not interfere with the view.

Telescopes are placed in a dome-shaped roof of the observatory which turns around so that they may keep aiming, at the same stars while the Earth rotates.

Devices called interferometers are used to link telescopes together, to build a computer controlled and more detailed image of a subject.

The first photograph of the stars were taken in 1840.

Observatory photographs are made using sensors called charged couple Devices, which give off electrical signals, when stuck by light.

London's Royal Greenwich Observatory founded in 1675 is one of the oldest observatories.

An observatory in Beijing, China, has 500 years old bronze astronomical instruments.

The highest observatory on the Earth is in Denver, Colorado, USA.

It is 4,300m above the sea level.

Funfact:-

The Kitt Peak National observatory in Arizona, USA, has the most number of optical telescopes.

One of them, the Mayall Telescope is 4m across.
